An invoice requests payment for work that's been done. A receipt confirms payment has already been received — this tool is for after the money has changed hands, not before. That's why it asks for a payment method instead of a due date. Need to request payment instead? Try the Invoice Generator.
Click "+ Add item" for each product or service that was paid for — description, quantity, and rate. Then enter the actual amount paid, or leave it blank to mark the full total as paid.
Leave the Amount Paid field blank and the receipt marks itself PAID in full automatically. Enter a smaller amount instead and the PDF shows a Balance Due for whatever's left, so partial payments are represented accurately.
The Payment method field is plain text — cash, card, bank transfer, check, or however the payment actually happened. It prints in place of a due date, since a receipt looks back at a payment rather than forward to one.
Enter a tax percentage in the Tax % field and it's applied to the subtotal automatically — the total shown on the page and in the PDF already includes it.
The receipt number is a plain text field, so you're free to use whatever system you already run — sequential (RCT-0001, RCT-0002...), by year, or by client. It's not generated for you, so it stays consistent with your existing records.
Type any currency symbol into the Currency symbol field — $, €, £, ₹, or anything else — and it's used throughout the receipt, on every line item and the total.
Once you press "Generate Receipt PDF," the file downloads straight to your device, named after your receipt number — ready to email as proof of payment or keep for your own records.
